What this tool does

Product descriptions copied from mainland sites, Taobao or Xiaohongshu, or subtitles made in CapCut, are in Simplified Chinese? Paste them here and they become Taiwan Traditional Chinese right away. It doesn't just swap characters: the wording changes to what people in Taiwan actually say, for video, software, quality, likes and free shipping.

Open subtitle files (SRT, VTT, ASS, LRC), text files or CSV directly and download the converted file in the same format, with timecodes untouched; GBK-encoded Simplified files are read correctly too. It also converts Traditional back to Simplified for customers from mainland China.

It uses the open-source OpenCC dictionaries plus common Taiwanese terms for e-commerce, social media and food. Everything is converted in your browser, so text and files are never uploaded; names and proper nouns are occasionally converted wrongly, so check important content.

FAQ

How is this different from a normal converter?

A normal converter only swaps characters; this one also switches to Taiwanese wording (video, software, mouse, quality and QR code terms) and uses “” quotes, so it reads as if written in Taiwan.

Can it convert subtitle files?

Yes. Open SRT, VTT, ASS or LRC subtitle files and download the converted file in the same format, with timecodes and formatting untouched; GBK-encoded Simplified subtitles are read correctly too.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Conversion happens in the browser on your own phone or computer; the first time, it downloads a dictionary of about 1MB, and after that it's fast.

Can it convert things wrongly?

It's very accurate, but some words mean different things in different contexts (e.g. the word for quality also means mass in physics), and names or brands may be converted wrongly, so check important content. To change characters only, turn off “Taiwan wording”.
